![]() ![]() This map, like Scorched Earth brought new mechanics to the table. The obvious reason this map was amazing was the variety of creatures and zones. You were always on the ground and therefore they had to make sure it felt smooth. I also think Aberration felt much better geographically constructed than other maps for this reason. ![]() The ability to fly on every other Ark map means you miss out on a lot experiences. I think one of the biggest reasons why Aberration is my favorite map is the lack of flying creatures. I experienced this map with one of my close friends and the entire time we were having so much fun. Everyone knows it, truly a masterpiece of an Ark map. In summary for Scorched Earth, for the first Ark DLC I think it wasn't terrible however, not replay-able. I loved bringing little tents along with me to camp it out, felt relaxing for some reason. I also did enjoy the storm events, I'm more of a PVE player and found them really cool. Having something so rare in the game was, for lack of better words, sick. I know this is not true anymore, but when I played I only ever saw one player with a phoenix. I especially like the phoenix due to its rarity. I also can't ignore the fact that it brought around some really cool creatures, even if the amount of new creatures was limited: Wyverns, Mantis, Rock Elementals, and the Phoenix. But that beginning phase is the reason I'm addicted to survival games, It's the struggle to understand the mechanics of the game. Obviously once you get your basics down and get a base going it becomes the normal ark grind again. Being able to go into a game I had already put hundreds of hours into and find it a struggle to survive at first presented a challenge. Yet, when Scorched Earth first came out it was refreshing. ![]() I don't think I could really go back and play Scorched Earth for more than a week or two. ![]() I know that this map is far from the favorite of just about every Ark veteran, and I understand why.
